A tale of unrequited love, in many forms, we were drawn in by both selfish and foolish behaviour. Strong dialogue and superb casting, a sprinkling of humour and ‎creative staging kept us riveted.

Off Mirvish - Boom

Talk about a trip down memory lane. Fusing the trajectory of the boomer from birth to adulthood, with the events that shaped who they are, there were many familiar points along the road, even though I am bringing up the tail end of the boomers. I really enjoyed reflecting on my age through the presentation, amazing myself at how poignant some of those moments still are for me. Rick Miller is a master impersonator and makes very creative use of technology to enhance his story. Definitely recommend this show.

Toronto Fringe: Next Stage Festival - Dink

Our final selection for the festival was a dark and somber play. We came away feeling speechless in the face of this horror. While tastefully handled and acted with empathy, we felt the helplessness of the situation and the violation. It really made you think.

Overall, we really enjoyed the Next Stage Festival and wished we had time to see them all. We are definitely coming back next year !

Toronto Fringe: Next Stage Festival - Big Shot

Jon Lachlan Stewart's performance was superb in his ability to portray multiple characters through incredible dexterity in facial expression, impressions and movement. His telling of a tale bringing film and stage together, filled with intrigue, melancholy and personal struggles was not a happy story, but somehow compelling. We strongly recommend this show.

Toronto Fringe: Next Stage Festival - Myth of the Ostrich

Number 2 of 4 that we signed up for, Myth of the Ostrich was funny, topical, and unpretentious - we can easily identify with the path that unfolds. The cast were amazing - three strong female performers who played off each other really well. Extremely well written, it was easy to identify with the characters - we all know someone just like one of them, or maybe you'll see yourself ....

Toronto Fringe: Next Stage Festival - For a Good Time, Call Kathy Blanchard

We're off to a great start, with the first of 4 plays we have scheduled. The script was very realistic, particularly for those of us from large families - the drama, tough love, chaos and perceived right to dictate how each member should live their life were so on point. The acting was outstanding across the entire cast.

Mirvish - Blades on Stage

What an awesome show - totally exceeded my expectations. I was skeptical as to how interesting it could be with so little ice surface. The choreography was amazing and very creative, set to a stellar selection of Broadway music and holiday favourites.  The skaters were all great, with some outstanding performances from Elvis, Shae-Lynn and Sean/Jodeyne. Fantastic family night out.
