Art of Time Ensemble - Intermezzi

Featuring the music of Brahms, this was a dreamy concert, particularly with Burashko on the piano. Innovatively choreographed, we were treated to a wonderfully fluid dance by Evelyn Hart, former principal ballerina of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, in the first half and an engaging puppet show in the second. What an interesting contrast!

Canstage - African Spotlight: Nongogo

Superb acting and some unexpected twists. We like to believe its not over and have imagined a different scenario for what happens the next day - I hope forgiveness.

Factory Theatre - The Daisy Theatre

Absolutely amazing show. Ronnie Burkett is an awesome puppeteer and comedian, bringing his wonderful puppets to life with song and mirth. This unscripted show is not to be missed.

Factory Theatre - The Unplugging

What would happen today if technology failed and survival depended on living off the land. Who knows how to fish, hunt, preserve, forage through the winter, make a fire. Who do you trust, how do communities come together, govern themselves, ... Many of these issues are presented and generate debate after. We loved this show and strongly recommend it.

Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike

Lots of laughs at this show. It was clever, even hysterical at points as it poked fun at family relationships and the crazy things we say and do to each other, safe in the knowledge that we'll still be loved. Fiona Reid was awesome, a standout in an excellent cast. I strongly recommend this show.

Soulpepper - The Gospel According to Mark

Well, that's an hour and a half I will never get back. While Kenneth Welsh recited the Gospel of Mark beautifully, I am not a church goer nor inclined to spend my time in scripture. Was expecting something a little different.

Soulpepper - Subway Stations of the Cross

An interesting series of religious spoken poems, delivered in costume, punctuated by song. Sometimes lyrical, sometimes serious, occasionally unintelligible, it is a good thing its not too long. Ins Choi is an excellent playwright and actor and this play was strangely compelling, but unfortunately not to our taste.
