A Day in Regina - Part 1

Starting off with breakfast at Fresh & Sweet (Victoria and Albert), this very popular spot means some waiting for a table, however the cupcake tide-me-over and a help yourself coffee urn made the wait quite bearable. I'm told they are known for their white chocolate banana bread french toast and it was delicious.

My city walk began with a stroll down Albert to , where I turned right to wander through Cathedral Village. Turning left at Elphinstone I continued to College and the Civic Centre/Art Gallery of Regina, which was unfortunately closed. Heading back along Collage to Albert took me to the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, a Natural history museum with lovely dioramas. In particular, the very lifelike, intimidating wolves with heavy breathing made me a tad nervous. Also of interest is the impressive aboriginal history exhibit. I was very impressed with the fascinating and thought provoking exhibit on sustainability (see pics for quotes).

The museum is adjacent to a lovely large park surrounding Wascana Lake. Clearly a favourite with the locals for walking, biking, hanging out.

I walked another 9 blocks or so along Albert to MacKenzie Art Gallery. Fairly small, it would not have been worth the walk along the tree lined street and past the Regina Legislative Building, if the weather had not been outstanding.
